Here's a recording I made today with my new SM7b. This mic kicks arse!

The song is me badly improvising over an 'East Coast' blues jam backing track. I will post the solo guitar tracks and the mix.
Below is the mix of both guitars (the third solo is a Martin acoustic micced with a Rode Nt-1a)

The mic was directly pointing at the cone, right up against the speaker grill.

The mic was situated at the edge of the speaker diaphragm, angled towards the center cone.
http://www.guitaraustralia.com/VB-VJam2/JustTwo.mp3The Shure SM7b was plugged into a Great River ME-1NV and it needed a 'bit' of gain. From there, the signal went into an EMU 1820m and was recorded with Reaper. I did nothing to alter the signal from the preamp, at all.
The guitars were plugged straight into the input of a JCM800 Kerry King sig head, driving a 1994 JCM900 1960a cab.
Presence 7
Bass 10
Mid 6.5
Treb 9.2
Master 1 (I know, I'm a wuss!)
Preamp 4.2
One thing to note about the KK is that it uses KT88 power tubes instead of EL34s. Probably not a noticeable difference with the master volume on 'one'. LOL!
